I have since grown a lot. I have grown through God’s help and Jesus’s love. My sister and my dad made up. My dad lived the rest of his life alone to punish himself for all he had done. He suffered for everything he did, and he made himself. He was alone a lot. When my sister forgave him, I forgave him and we all let it go. Raped and Pillaged by Computers, The Saga of an Ebay Victim

April 11 of this year I was shopping for bed linens on the internet. I found some sheets on Ebay that seemed to be wonderful items at reasonable prices. One of them I liked was described as “Court of Versailles Queen Fitted Sage Sheet”. My bedroom is done in sage colors. Nothing could have seemed more perfect. The picture of the sheet was quite effective – it was just what I wanted. I couldn’t find out what the thread count was from the seller, as they weren’t quite sure, but I made a bid on the item anyway.

The seller was Ty Trading Company and my winning bid was a measly $23.21. The shipping charge was a whopping $13.46. Well, a total of $36.67 didn’t seem like too much to pay. I would have spent at least $10.00 on gas going to Macy’s or Bed Bath & Beyond. .

In case you don’t know how Ebay works, you have the option to either bid on an item or “Buy it Now”, depending on how it’s listed. This was a bid only item. I was so excited to have actually been the highest bidder in an Ebay auction. I paid for the sheet with my PayPal account.

Something strange happened. A few hours later I received an email from Ty Trading Company. It said that they could not honor my bid because I didn’t have a PayPal account. Well, of course I had a PayPal account – I had just used it to pay them for the sheet.

I called Ty Trading Company and was told that they were sorry, but I was out of luck. A New Religion for a New Age

When recently I read a book titled “What We Believe But Cannot Prove”, edited by John Brockman, I realised that so much of what we “believe” is based on nonsense, fiction, suspect ’scientific fact’, and good old wishful thinking. At the end of the day there are things that are knowable and things that aren’t and we have to accept that and just get on with our lives. Take the idea of God for example.

Religions purporting to be associated with this or that God have been around as long as we have. Of our current religions, Buddhists believe that there is no God; Christians follow the alleged teachings of the ‘Son of God’, Muslims are sure that Mohammed (Praise Be Unto Him) was the last prophet who laid down God’s dictum for human behaviour. Only the Hare Krishna religion is brave enough to state that Krishna WAS God who had appeared as Krishna and makes regular appearances as different living beings. Of course there are numerous other religious themes pandering to the inner needs of those who can’t live without the certainty that there is a higher being who loves them and cares for their every need.

At the end of the day, nobody can say with any degree of certainty if any of the current crop of religions is accurate or autentic or if in fact there is a supreme being lording it over us.
